Key responsibilities

Keeping the content coming. That’s the job of the Social Media & PR specialist. Working closely with our UK Social, PR and wider marketing teams they will adapt and deliver locally relevant campaigns. They analyse our social media & PR activity and engagement and implement campaigns that keep us ahead of the latest trends.

  • Leads the social media & PR activation and implementation for all campaigns in Ireland.
  • Works directly with the Ireland Marketing Specialist to deliver fully integrated campaigns across all channels.
  • Partners with the Content, Social Media & PR teams in the UK to develop locally relevant content for all campaign activity.
  • Identifies relevant social and PR opportunities that B&Q could explore and recommends appropriate action.
  • Analyses key data in relation to Social Media in order to drive performance.
  • Identifies relevant PR opportunities to promote brand reputation and enhance consumer brand preference and/or desire. Eg.via topical/cultural moments with Content that consumers easily connect with (relevant, real, believable). Requires understanding of the media landscape and the business in which we work.
  • Forms effective relationships with UK PR team and with key external stakeholders and influencers (including consumer media, influencers, event managers, PRs for vendors, NGOs) to support opportunities for specific consumer PR activations.
  • Assists the Customer Management Centre in responding to Social Media enquiries.
  • Support and actively participate in all activities which measure the effectiveness of the Ireland marketing strategy.

Required skills & experience

  • Background in Social Media, Consumer Media, or PR within an integrated comms team (ideally FMCG or retail).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with a flair for using \"social networking speak\" and online jargon.
  • Proficient at writing creative and original copy/content.
  • Great project management organisational skills and a real eye for detail.
  • The ability to create strong working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • An understanding of the importance of brand and how it shapes Social Media & PR tactics.
  • Genuinely enthusiastic about Social Media and it’s potential – keeping up to date with latest Social trends.
