Supplier Quality Engineer [Mexico]

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Work together with suppliers to develop and implement best practices on defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste.
• Manage Supplier’s product and process evaluation regarding to the compliance according to the requirements of BW and our Customers.
• Manage and coordinate supplier on PPM improvement, problem solving, cost recovery due to quality issues and supplier warranty indicators,
• -Report on KPIs in order to adhere to BorgWarner ETTS goals.

Responsibilities:

o Solve production quality concerns through effective problem-solving methodologies including:

• Containment actions (Material identification, Material certification or rework, etc.)
• Root cause analysis (5 Whys, Ishikawa diagram, etc.)
• Permanent Corrective Actions evaluation and Effectiveness verification.
• Cost recovery for all scrap, internal and third-party sorting activities.

o Initiate and Track Suppliers Continuous Improvement activities.

o Work closely with Suppliers to improvement supplier processes with the focus of eliminating waste and driving non-value-added cost out of the suppliers system.

o Review and make disposition on Supplier PPAP submissions (Current series components).

o Assure PPAP timing remains on time and meets launch timing objectives. (Current series components).

o Update/communicate PPAP timing to launch team members (Current series components).

o Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date and on file for components within assigned commodities

Supplier Quality Development –

o Conduct Supplier Quality System Audits on site to meet BW and/or Customer’s specific Quality expectations/requirements.

o Conduct Supplier Audits of Implemented Corrective Actions Plans, Special Characteristics and SPC Charts, etc.

Job Profile& Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical degree and experience.
• Desirable minimum 5 years of experience in technical quality support, interaction with different levels of management of clients.
• Desirable minimum 5 years of experience in Automotive, Automotive Systems, or technical field is required.
• Able to demonstrate ability to navigate complex organizational matrix and effective communication skills.
• Trained Auditor (IATF16949 preferred)
• Strong understanding and experience of working to IATF16949 and ISO9000 standards.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of core quality tools including: Process control plans, process flow diagrams, FMEA, MSA, SPC. (Preferred)
• Product and process knowledge of Manufacturing to Automotive tolerances (preferred).
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (preferred).
• Availability to travel.
• Proficient, experienced and knowledgeable APQP processes and PPAP requirements. (Preferred)
• Strong Statistical and analytical proficiency. (Desirable)
• Proficient of automotive problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa analysis, Six Sigma, etc.) required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab, Infinity, or, equivalent system.
