Job Purpose and Impact

Within the Global Product and Process Development (PPD) department of Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate (CCC), new processes and products are developed, and research is done to enlarge the knowledge in the broadest sense of the word on cocoa, chocolate and coatings & fillings. The focus is on innovation and product & process optimization. The scope of the Senior Food Technologist role is for the product line Chocolate for the region Europe.

The Senior Food Technologist will define and execute research and development projects. In this role, you will be responsible for ideation, building business cases and project proposals. You will communicate the conclusions and follow up actions with relevant departments to ensure strong stakeholder management.

The Senior Food Technologist is on a key technical leadership position working closely with product line management, marketing, operations, and food quality, safety and regulatory within the Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate business and with relevant departments within other Cargill product groups, Cargill Innovation Centre, external institutes, suppliers and universities.

The role reports to the Group PPD Director and it is based in Mouscron, Belgium. Candidates applying from abroad and willing to relocate to Belgium can be considered. Key Accountabilities
Lead complex innovation and cost improvement projects from ideation to market launch to advance the innovation pipeline and portfolio with ideas for the conversion of scientific research and growth of distinctive product and process offerings. Leads technical projects , ensuring on time and in full delivery on scope, time and cost deliverables with a cross-functional team, including marketing, food safety and plant operations. Manage process improvement and novel ingredients discovery and ensure appropriate resource allocation and communicate project results, recommending actionable next steps to internal and external stakeholders. Conduct research and complex experiments that translates into marketable products, processes, systems and further develops existing technology; analyze results and provide oversight for interpretation of completed trial results to determine next steps. Establishes product specifications, and coordinates autonomously with engineering, plant operations, marketing and sales colleagues to ensure adequate resources are engaged to test and deliver technical findings Actively partner with intellectual asset management liaison and regulatory affairs contacts to secure innovation property rights, assisting with the development of strategies, processes and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies Support research and development innovation growth by partnering with businesses, with technology partners such as universities, research and development organizations as well as industry forums; to identify emerging trends and needs. Independently solves complex issues and guides more junior team members and pilot plant staff in experimentation Other duties as assigned
#LI-PB1 Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience Minimum of six years of related work experience Project management experience of 4 years as technical project leader or overall project leader with cross functional teams Good written and verbal communication in English

Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent experience Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in product or process technology, preferably in the foods area Comprehensive knowledge of application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques Food application and application laboratory experience Strong analytical and statistical thinking capability Excellent communication, prioritization, report writing and presenting skills. Ability to communicate complex technical and sensory details to wide array of non-technical people as well as technical project teams. Skills in project management Knowledge of sensory evaluation and sensory insights is a clear advantage Experience with cross cultural teams Experience with guiding and coaching laboratory and pilot plant staff in experiments is a plus Experience in agile ways of working and/or design thinking is a plus.
