This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced recruitment team, playing a vital role in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the university run efficiently. Working to recruit students for a leading UK university the post holder will have responsibility for developing and driving the recruitment strategy for students and to deliver the targeted student numbers for the university. This includes planning and implementing student recruitment activities, and the facilitation of the recruitment process and promotion of the university.
We have an open-access approach to recruitment providing ethical counselling to students seeking to join Heriot-Watt ensuring they are recruited to the right programme and at the right level. The person in this role will manage and work with a team of student recruiters comprising of personnel recruiting both domestic (Malaysia) students as well as students from overseas (International) to join campuses in Malaysia, the UK and Dubai. The post holder will ensure the team receive sales training and product knowledge to provide professional guidance to all prospects.
S/he will also be expected to participate in recruitment activities such as Open Days and Higher Education exhibitions, and to support other university activities in a professional and flexible manner. This varied role requires the exercise of independent judgement and initiative, strong administrative and excellent interpersonal skills. The person in this role must be willing to travel and be flexible in his/her working hours and will work in close collaboration with the team.
He/she will work in close partnership with the professional services teams and academic staff across campuses and the wider University, and sometimes, directly with applicants. It will be essential to work in collaboration and communicate with Heriot-Watt colleagues on other campuses to drive the university's global student recruitment strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Student Recruitment and will be based at the University's campus in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with the Head of Student Recruitment, develop, plan and manage recruitment and enrolment strategies for the recruitment of students to HWUM.
- Lead, monitor and manage the recruitment performance of the student recruitment team and ensure targets are met for the various intakes. Responsibe for leads management.
- Work closely with the Prospect Experience Manager to facilitate the enrolment of students.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to propose recruitment tactics i.e. fees, waivers and scholarships.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Teams to create promotional events and campaigns via digital & print media to drive recruitment.
- Work closely with the regional recruitment teams of HWU, to support the recruitment of students to HWU.
- Plan & lead recruitment events on-campus (e.g. Open Days) and off-campus (e.g. Education Fairs) and ensure the successful implementation of the events.

- Keep abreast of developments in the education industry and monitor market trends and track prospect student enquiries to identify opportunities for new programme development.
- Lead, motivate and develop staff including addressing training needs of the team.
- Manage and train a team of student ambassadors to support recruitment events.

Education & Qualifications
Essential:
Must have a degree- : preferably in marketing , communications, business, administration or relevant professional qualifications
Experience
Essential:
A minimum of 4 years- ' experience in a student recruitment environment.
- Experience in driving the team and stakeholders to deliver effective and efficient recruitment strategies.
- Experience in managing external agencies to increase and supplement recruitment
Desirable:
- Previous success in a target driven role.
- CRM experience/training to manage sales pipeline.

- Demonstrable and well-developed inter-personal skills, comfortable interacting directly with suppliers and potential students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, at a professional level suitable for dealing with complex enquiries. In particular you must have:
