The Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Program (AGCMP) encompasses several cohort studies to improve the understanding, early detection, prevention and management of cancer. This includes the Molecular Screening and Therapeutics (MoST) study which is recruiting patients at multiple sites in Australia. A Research Support Officer is required to primarily be part of the AGCMP team.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Research Support Officer will provide support activities for patient recruitment associated with the MoST comprehensive genetic profiling nationally. The role involves administration duties, preparation and packing of biospecimen kits, maintaining accurate records and data entry tasks.
Salary: Up to $39.06 P/h + Superannuation
Employment Type: Casual (3 days/week, onsite)

WHAT YOU WILL DO
This role is responsible for preparation, sending and tracking biospecimen kits provided to patients and includes carrying out quality checks on data and data entry.
The key responsibilities include:
  • Run pre-defined queries in patient databases to extract data.
  • Complete basic quality control check for data completeness.
  • Prepare all stock needed for biospecimen kits and undertake assembly of kits.
  • Perform data entry for kit tracking.
  • Act as point of contact for queries regarding biospecimen kits.
  • Undertake stocktake to identify when to order stock.
  • Ensure data security is maintained to protect patient records, both physically and electronically.
  • Assist in administration duties (e.g., scanning records, filing, monitor stock)
  • All staff are required to comply with Garvan’s workplace polices (as amended from time to time) and especially Garvan’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) Policy, including working in accordance with the WHS management system at all times, as safety is Garvan’s number one priority.

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience monitoring stock inventory levels.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications (MS Office specifically excel).
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of database and record management systems (desirable).
  • Knowledge and understanding of patient’s privacy and confidential processes (desirable).
  • Experience ordering supplies through finance system (desirable).
