Abios is a subscription based esports data company, operating a DaaS (data as a service) business model. We are a pure business-to-business supplier of historical and live data, statistics and content visualisations, probability calculations (odds) and compliance solutions.
Founded early 2013 in Stockholm, we have since been hard at work facilitating the esports industry growth by creating value for customers and enabling their esports enterprises. Abios now consists of approximately 60 people, all across the globe. In 2021 Abios was acquired by the industry leading sportsbook solutions provider Kambi and is now a wholly owned subsidiary.
Our headquarters are situated in Stockholm, Sweden with offices in Manila. Our group has offices in locations including London, Copenhagen, Bucharest and the USA.

Working closely alongside the entire Abios team of esports enthusiasts, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be part of managing the Abios organisation from an operational stand-point.
Role Description
The COO is a high-level executive responsible for overseeing and optimising the operational functions of Abios. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the COO plays a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability. The COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and collaborates closely with other department heads.
Responsibilities
- Operational Strategy: Develop and execute the operational strategy to support the organisation's B2B sales of esports data, widgets and odds in alignment with business objectives. Set operational goals, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement plans to optimise operations and drive revenue growth.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes and enhance efficiency within the organisation. Implement initiatives to improve data collection, analysis, and delivery processes, ensuring timely and accurate information for B2B clients.
- Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation, including personnel, technology, and budgets. Optimise resource utilisation and identify areas for investment or cost reduction to maximise profitability.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish performance metrics and monitoring systems to track the effectiveness of operational processes in delivering esports data and odds services. Analyse data and performance reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Track the delivery of esports sales targets across all regions, identifying gaps and helping to build a world-leading esports sales team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration and coordination between different teams, such as data analysts, sales, marketing, trading and customer support, to ensure smooth B2B operations. Work closely with the sales team to understand client needs and align operational processes accordingly.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks specific to the esports data industry. Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect data integrity, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and maintain client confidentiality.
- Change Management: Lead and drive change initiatives within the organisation to adapt to evolving market dynamics or technological advancements. Develop change management plans, communicate effectively with employees, and ensure smooth transitions to new processes or systems.
- Talent Development: Build and develop a skilled operational team capable of delivering high-quality esports services. Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to employees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with B2B clients, esports organisations, and industry partners to understand their needs and expectations. Cultivate strong relationships, address concerns, and proactively seek feedback to improve operational effectiveness and client satisfaction.
- Supplier Management: Negotiate with suppliers and manage data rights contracts. Participate in RFPs for esports data rights.
- Representation: Regularly travel around the world for client meetings, representing Abios at industry events.

What we are looking for
- Experience in an operational leadership role, preferably within the esports, betting or data industry.
- Strong understanding of B2B sales dynamics and knowledge of esports data or betting services.
- Demonstrated expertise in process optimisation, data management, and analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering actionable insights.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities in a medium-sized organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing industry landscape and drive innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- A passion for esports.
