The Organisation

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.


The Opportunity
Uru Kiriora, the Communities, Localities and Commissioning Directorate, have an opportunity for a highly motivated, senior registered nurse to lead the Tissue Viability (Wound) Service, a part of the Integrated Community Nursing Team. This is a role for a full time Clinical Nurse Specialist or Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate with expert knowledge of complex wound care. This role extends across the system, including home visits, community clinics, Aged Residential Care and hospital services, so travel is required. Your immediate team includes two RNs and a Specialty Clinical Nurse – Pressure Injury Prevention and Management.
We are seeking to recruit a nurse leader who:
  • Has advanced wound assessment and management skills and the ability to share these with others
  • Is committed to Māori health equity and outcomes
  • Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams in different organisations
  • Is innovative in identifying opportunities for system-wide improvements of the care of people with wounds
  • Meets the requirements of Level 4 of the Professional Development Recognition Programme (Level 3, working towards Level 4 will be considered)
  • Has completed relevant postgraduate papers, a minimum of a post graduate diploma and preferably a Masters in Nursing
  • Is a RN prescriber in primary health and specialty teams or is working towards this within a set timeframe
